STAR Program Deadline is March 1, 2012

All homeowners:  if you own and occupy your home, you are eligible for the basic STAR (New York State School Tax Relief) program which gives exemptions for property taxes to be paid!  Residents must submit applications to their town assessor in order to benefit from this program.  If you applied for the basic STAR exemption in the past, you do not need to reapply.

Senior citizen homeowners are reminded that they must renew their STAR Program applications by March 1, 2012.  If senior citizen home owners do not renew, they get kicked back to the "basic" savings plan.  Seniors are entitled to an enhanced STAR program and must reapply to keep the same level of benefits.  This includes any senior who took part in the program last year.  Homeowners who turned 65 since last year, or who will be turning 65 during 2012, or seniors who may have purchased a house or moved into the school district since last year must apply for the STAR program for the first time.  Do not lose out on this tax saving program!  For information and applications contact:
