Assistive Technology pertains to any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customize, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of a child with a disability. By law, schools are required to provide the Assistive Technology to those students with disabilities where support is necessary for a free and appropriate public education (FAPE).
