About Pine Valley

The Pine Valley Central School District is a rural district that covers an area of approximately 120 square miles in the northeast section of Chautauqua County and the northwest section of Cattaraugus County.

The Pine Valley Central School is approximately 14 miles from the Village of Fredonia and 25 miles from the city of Jamestown.  The area connects easily to metropolitan Buffalo and Erie by using the Southern Tier Expressway (Interstate 86/Rt. 17) and the New York State Thruway (I-90), which are close by.  Thus, numerous two and four-year institutions are quite accessible.

The two largest villages in the district are Cherry Creek and South Dayton.  Both villages have populations of approximately 750 persons.  The area is largely residential and heavily agricultural, although numerous small businesses and industries add to the economic base.  The beautiful and vast countryside with nearby Allegany State Park, the largest in New York State, offers numerous year-round outdoor activities: hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping.  The area is especially noted for its fine recreational facilities with many excellent golf courses, ski resorts, state parks, and boating opportunities.

In addition to the cultural and enrichment activities associated with Buffalo and Erie, there are similar opportunities nearby.  Chautauqua InstituteRoger Tory Peterson InstituteReg Lenna Civic Center, the Buffalo Philharmonic , and Regional Theatre offer programs, speakers, and entertainment of wide appeal.

The Community also has a large population of Amish within the district's boundaries.  The Amish offer not only a cultural aspect to the community but they provide services from woodworking and cabinetry making to baked goods and quilts at reasonable prices.  All of this combines to provide the Pine Valley Central School District residents with an excellent quality of life at a moderate cost of living.

The mission of Community in Action (CIA) or the Pine Valley Parent-Teacher Organization is to provide opportunities for parents and community members to enhance the educational and social experiences of all students while they attend Pine Valley Central School.

The PTO/CIA is a public group that plans events, fundraisers, and activities for our students and community. The group acts as an umbrella to other clubs and PV sports teams.

There is NO commitment or “joining” of our club. Simply, come to the meetings that you’re able and offer your input, advice, and assistance for events. If you want to come only to hear what’s going on - join us. If it is an activity or event you can help with, we will gladly accept!

Meetings are held monthly during the school year.

We meet at the school in the ES or HS Libraries.

Please check our Facebook page for meeting dates.

All meetings are subject to change and will be updated on our Facebook page.
