Third grade is the year in which students begin to transition from learning to read to reading to learn. While reading to learn is our main focus, I strive to help my students become lifelong readers who love to read.
For homework, students are expected to read at home. This can be accomplished through reading aloud to family, listening to a story, or reading independently. Although there are no requirements in terms of minutes or number of books read, 30 minutes of reading per day is ideal. The main objective is to have fun reading!
Need help finding great books? The library here at Pine Valley is full of great reads. Students visit the library weekly to borrow new books. Looking to stock your own library? I will send home a new Scholastic book order each month. Need book recommendations? Ask me!
