A little about me....
I am new to math coaching this year. I came to this position because I was ready to start something new; to see if I could impact the district in other ways. I've been at Pine Valley since 1999- when I started subbing in college. I was subbing pretty regularly and also had some long-term sub positions. I was hired to teach full-time in 2006 when I was placed in a Reading First Literacy Specialist position. I worked in this position for two years, transferring to a third grade classroom. I taught third grade from 2006 to 2020. Then, in 2020, I moved up to 4th grade for two years. Although my Master's Degree is in Literacy, I have always had a love for math. When I started college, I majored in math and also tutored algebra part time. So here I am- ready to start a new journey. My position is a TOSA, which means Teacher on Special Assignment. It is a lateral move, not administrative, nor a change in contract. I think of this position as a way to be of service to my fellow teachers. What can I do to help them?
Outside of school, I am quite passionate about Emergency Services. I've been an EMT for many years and am the EMS captain for Leon Fire Company. I also belong to Randolph Regional EMS and the District 1 Rescue Team. My family is dedicated to helping our community and we continue to do what we can to make a difference.
I have 3 children. My oldest most recently became a career firefighter for Jamestown City Fire. My middle daughter graduated last year and my youngest is in 7th grade. Drake, our black lab, is like another kid. We also enjoy participating in motorcycle dice/poker runs throughout the summer and we love to camp....or glamp.
I am looking forward to building relationships with teachers, students and parents this year. Please contact me for needs, questions, and assistance.
I may not have the immediate answer, but I will work hard to get it for you.
